I get asked a lot about where my favourite location is to photograph a weddings is. The honest answer is I love both urban and rural settings, but of course who doesn’t love rolling hills, fields and a gorgeous green backdrop! In this post I’m celebrating the rural setting for your wedding.
One of the undeniable advantages of rural weddings is the breathtaking natural backdrops they offer. Living where I do, a lot of my weddings are in the stunning Peak District. Nestled in the heart of England, the Peak District stands tall as an enchanting landscape that promises an unparalleled setting for your wedding photography. With its idyllic countryside, charming villages, and breathtaking vistas, the Peak District offers a plethora of benefits that make it an ideal destination for couples seeking a dreamy and picturesque wedding backdrop. You don’t necessarily have to have your wedding ceremony in the middle of the countryside, I often photograph weddings more centrally and we go out into the peaks for the couple pictures, so this is always an option too. If you have wedding cars they are always happy to drive you out there and I have been known to chauffeur couples myself to get that perfect backdrop for your pictures!
Of course, I’m also lucky to travel around a lot and beyond the peaks there are plenty of gorgeous settings for your wedding day. From rolling hills and serene woods to enchanting barns and quaint churches, the settings can be nothing short of picturesque. I love to harness the beauty of the landscapes to frame stunning portraits and compose interesting group shots.
I love the simplicity of a rural setting as it encourages me to experiment with various techniques and angles. The rustic elements, such as old farmhouses, wooden fences, or fields of wildflowers, provide unique opportunities for artistic composition.
I think in conclusion, photographing weddings in rural settings holds a special place in my heart as a passionate wedding photographer. I grew up on a farm and I guess my heart naturally lies in the countryside. The authentic charm, simplicity, and genuine emotions that permeate celebrations in rural settings create an atmosphere that for me is both heartwarming and inspiring.
