I was again honoured to be asked to photograph the wedding of very good friends Tony & Hannah back in September, the 25th last year. I was very excited about this wedding for a number of reasons – firstly as I know Tony & Hannah well, I knew that there would be lots of quirky notes on the day - I was not disappointed! – Secondly, this was to be my first time photographing at the Bandstand at Weston Park in Sheffield – which turned out as I had imagined to be a fab place to have your wedding providing both a gorgeous backdrop for the actual wedding ceremony and creating a really chilled ‘parklife’ type atmosphere for the guests. In the run up to the wedding I wasn’t remotely surprised when I received my invite in the form of a music festival ticket inviting me to be part of ‘The Marriage’ event – Tony & Hannah being massive music fans had created this brilliant theme complete with VIP access all areas neck badges for all the people involved in the running of the day. The theme certainly didn’t end there with programs being given out on the day acting as the order of services and of course what music event would be complete without a T-shirt and merchandise stand at the venue – awesome!
Donning my photographer badge on the day I went over to Hannah’s house to capture the build up to the day with Hannah looking absolutely beautiful in her wedding gown alongside her 3 bridesmaids looking equally fabulous in their black dresses. Meanwhile Gaz (my other half) was off to the hotel where Tony & his groomsmen were getting ready. They headed for the park & after a few maneuvers of marquees they were all set for the arrival of the bride! The wedding cars were from Fairytale Wedding Cars – my fave wedding car company in Sheffield! & were absolutely perfect for the day – 2 Rolls Royces. I was lucky to get to travel in one with the bride and her Dad and get a few sneaky shots en-route. The service as I had thought was beautiful with laughter, tears & lots and lots of smiles, Hannah’s face when she saw Tony’s for the first time as she walked down the aisle to Ian Brown’s F.E.A.R was a picture! After the ceremony guests were invited to tuck into cheese – another fave of Tony & Hannah’s before heading over to the steps by the museum for some photographs. After the cheese had been eaten (minus any knives!) & the champagne had been drunk everybody set off to The Old Rectory in Handsworth, Sheffield for what was set to be a really fun evening. The room looked great with their colour scheme of grey, lilac and black working perfectly. The favours were of course… a copy of ‘The Marriage’ CD – ‘Probably the best Wedding Album in the World ever’!! Amongst many of their favourite tracks was the now infamous first dance song – Fire by Kasabian, played by the mannequin disc jockey!! Excellent excellent stuff, no stone had been left uncovered and everybody really enjoyed all the little gems on the day. You guys are going to be so happy I’m sure – thanks for your patience on these, enjoy all 900 plus of them!!!!!!!! xxxxxxxxxxx
Previous wedding storyboards December the 19th 2010 was my final wedding of the year and what a lovely wedding to finish on it was!! This was the wedding day of Ed and Anna & another very cold wintry day. Aston Hall looked absolutely gorgeous when I arrived with a light dusting of snow and frost from previous days still covering the grass and buildings – fortunately friends and family traveling from far & wide were still able to make the journey to help celebrate Anna & Ed’s special day. Anna looked absolutely stunning in her Emily Bridal gown with Sian looking lovely also in her pale blue bridesmaid gown – capturing the feel of the day perfectly. Meanwhile, the men looking equally dapper in their grey suits, blue cravats & waistcoats were making their way over to the beautiful All Saints Church ready for the arrival of Anna. Carefully avoiding the icy patches in the car park Anna and her Father made their way over to the church. After a lovely service friends and family greeted the happy couple before retreating to the warmth of Aston Hall for their welcome drinks. We did brave the outdoors for some photographs – thanks to all the ladies in their dresses for persevering with me but mostly Anna for having to endure the cold for the longest! There are also lots of lovely spots indoors so we took the opportunity to use these spaces as well. Following this, the wedding breakfast started with the speeches – Mick (father-of-the-bride) made a most excellent speech while wandering around the tables giving a more personal approach to public speaking – good stuff! The evening started with the first dance led by a live band. A really great day, have a fab belated honeymoon! xx December the 4th 2010 was the date for the wedding of Kirsty and Chris – throughout the week there had been turmoil for everybody involved with this wedding as Sheffield was hit with inches an inches of snow… but through grit – literally!! and determination this wedding went ahead without a hitch, it goes without saying that the father of the bride did a fabulous job digging out both the pathway up to the church and the outside of Kenwood Hall so that guests could actually get in!! As if she had known, the bride wore a gorgeous red gown which was of course the prefect contrast to the snowy landscape. A lot of planning had gone into this wedding including making sure everybody looked perfect on the day – including the 10 bridesmaids, 7 ushers and 2 best men! I am so happy this wedding went ahead as planned and that people were still able to get there (including me via a long walk and a taxi drive!) I was also mightily impressed that the Limousine drivers didn’t seem remotely perturbed by a bit of snow I am certain the new Mr and Mrs Fretwell will never forget their special day! Having already met Michelle and Gary earlier on in the year at a wedding, it was lovely to photograph their wedding on the 20th November 2010. This wedding took me to the beautiful All Saints Church in South Kirkby, Pontefract. Red was the colour theme for this wedding – proving to be a very popular colour this year. The 6 bridesmaids in their gorgeous red gowns along with the 3 little flowers girls made the perfect accompaniment to the glowing bride, Michelle. After the lovely service we all headed to South Kirby Cricket Club where the wedding celebrations continued. This was a great wedding, the party was just getting going as I left and I’m sure went on for many more hours!! Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Collins… The 6th November 2010 was the wedding date for Jo and Ian. It was lovely to be back at Tapton Hall in Fulwood Sheffield, my third trip there in recent months. The photography started with the arrival of the groom at Tapton Hall along with guests, family and friends. Joanne soon followed, and looked absolutely stunning. The service was very memorable with lots and lots of laughter with Jo and Ian setting each other off sporadically throughout the service. The laughter didn’t stop there, with lots more during the day. Taking pictures of this pair together was an absolute pleasure, they love playing around and having fun, Ian kept singing ‘strike a pose, vogue!!’ much to mine and Jo’s amusement!! I hope the pictures capture all these happy little moments. The couple love black and white photography so this was the overall theme, however a few coloured images work well highlighting the beautiful reds and oranges used as their theme and of course their two beloved dogs on top of the wedding cake – what great taste you have, my wedding cake had dogs on too!! You have a fabulous future together – keep up the laughter and silliness, I love it!! xx Wynyard Hall in the Tees Valley, was the absolutely magnificent setting for the wedding of Jodie and David on the 16th October 2010. Both the building itself and the grounds here are gorgeous so there were endless locations for photography on the day. Jodie got ready in one of the beautiful bedrooms along with her 3 bridesmaids looking lovely in vibrant blue. Meanwhile the men were out the front on the lawns enjoying a bit of sunshine before the wedding ceremony – this was conducted in Wynyard Hall’s beautiful little chapel. After the ceremony friends and family greeted the happy newly-weds before heading back into the Hall for drinks, canapes and a warm! The afternoon continued with a relaxed vibe, with cheerful banter filling the grand high-ceilinged rooms throughout the hall. The wedding breakfast was rounded off with some amusing speeches – nice to see Phil having to sweat it as best man having photographed him before on his wedding day! The evening entertainment started with guests fervently filling their favour jars with sweets from traditional sweetie jars! Then, after the cake cutting, Jodie and David took to the dance floor for their first dance before everybody joined them with the band by this stage in full swing. Another fabulous wedding! Lots of love to you both xx The 2nd October 2010 was the date for the perfect fairytale wedding Natalie and Danuel had been dreaming of. Natalie looked amazing in her princess-style gown with pink detailing on the waistband and dyed pink veil and shoes matching perfectly along with a gorgeous pink bouquet. The bridesmaids, Natalie’s sisters, looking equally stunning were of course wearing….. pink!! The men meanwhile were at the church wearing their grey suits and of course in their ties in…. pink!! They had not however forgotten to include their all important Sheffield Wednesday badges inside their jackets which they proudly displayed at the church! Natalie arrived at St James Church in Norton, Sheffield, in true fairytale style fashion in a beautiful white horse-drawn carriage. After a lovely service the happy couple travelled to The Park Hotel where friends and family were waiting for their arrival. After some photographs and confetti on the lawn the guests sat down to enjoy their wedding breakfast and the speeches. After the meal we took a few more shots using the lifts – a shot Natalie had particularly requested and I think turned out really well!
The evening started with a lovely first dance before the stunning fairytale castle cake unfortunately had to be cut. You pair are so bubbly and happy together, you made the whole day an absolute delight to photograph xx The 5th of August 2010 was a very very special wedding day for me as it was the wedding of my best friend Alison to her soul-mate Stephen. I was truly honoured to act as both bridesmaid and photographer on the day – carefully orchestrated so that as I walked down the aisle my camera was ready and waiting to capture the entrance of Alison – thanks to my husband Gaz for all his assistance on the day aswell!! I was sooooo exited for this wedding everybody who knows Al, knows just how much Alison REALLY REALLY wanted to get married! Having met Stephen many years earlier I have got to know him well throughout the years and was certain they made the perfect couple. Alison looked absolutely amazing on the day in her gem encrusted gown which Ann – a family friend had worked so diligently on as well as my gorgeous red gown to get just the perfect fit on the day I have to mention the men also looking very smart in their black suits, cream waist-coats & red ties. Part of the excitement of the day was to do with the fact that the setting was going to be absolutely fabulous - Al & Stephen having chosen the glorious Otterburn Hall in Northumberland – it did not disappoint on the day, stunning grounds and the most fabulous bridal suite I had seen – especially the tasseled bathroom with the see-through bath I absolutely enjoyed every minute – I still have no recollection of how I managed to capture all the beautiful moments during the ceremony, as it was certainly not just Alison and Stephen teary eyed during a very emotional ceremony! As you both know I wish you soooooo much future happiness together and look forward to all our future get togethers along the way…. much love xxxxxxx I was really looking forward to the wedding of Sarah & Olly on the 1st October as the wedding venue they had chosen is absolutely gorgeous – Arley Hall in Cheshire. Having visited previously to meet up with Sarah & Olly for their pre-wedding shoot we had explored the award-winning gardens and chosen a few spots we might use on the big day….. of course this being England the weather had different plans on the day! Sarah and her bridesmaids dressed in vibrant purple all looked gorgeous as they headed off to Arley Hall dodging the rain showers. A beautiful service was carried out in one of the many stunning rooms within Arley Hall with the signing of the register in the Library. After the service guests enjoyed drinks and canapes before some group photographs and the wedding breakfast. At this point the sun decided to come out so we took the opportunity to dash outside and get some more shots before the speeches. The evening continued with a disco and a band with everybody enjoying the party atmosphere. Overall a fab day!! x On the 18th September 2010 I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Gloria & Rodrigo. With Rodrigo originally from Chile, friends and family had travelled from afar not wanting to miss out on what I was sure was going to be a real fun celebration. As I arrived at Gloria’s parents house the Marquee was all set up and ready to host the wedding party later on – the interior looked fabulous with purple floral arrangements and bunting proving gorgeous adornments. In the back garden the bar was in the midst of being set up as Gloria showed me around with Jimmy the dog in hot pursuit – he didn’t miss a second of the action throughout the day and all the attention throughout the night! Gloria looked amazing and definitely captured the Spanish senorita vibe with her glamorous entourage of 5 bridesmaids & a flower girl all looking lovely in their purple and gold gowns. The bridal party headed off to St William of York Church on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield where a beautiful service was carried out. Afterwards everybody headed back to house where the partying soon got started with champagne flowing and canapes on the lawn and a 3 piece band providing the perfect background music. Then followed the wedding breakfast starting with the speeches superbly delivered in both English and Spanish by Gloria’s parents. There was a LOT of fun and laughter at this wedding with plenty of smiling happy faces for me to capture. The party spirit was in full swing as I left with the marquee filled with exuberant dancing guests!! A fantastic wedding which I’m sure absolutely everybody enjoyed. Another sunny day in September on the 17th was the wedding day of Jenny and Andrew at the lovely Mosborough Hall. The colour scheme for the day centered around pinks and browns with the bridesmaids wearing gorgeous vibrant pink dresses and the men looking smart in their brown suits. After the wedding ceremony guests enjoyed drinks and canapes before sitting down to their wedding breakfast and an emotional speech from Andrew A fab day for all, the dance floor was certainly getting into full swing when I left! Laura & Chris celebrated their marriage on the 10th September 2010, with their lovely wedding ceremony taking place at St James Church in Norton. A spot of rain after the service certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of these pair, as they headed off to Tapton Hall in Fulwood Sheffield. The celebrating continued and the sun came out so we were able to use the outside space for some photographs. There was so much smiling and laughter at this wedding making it obvious how happy you both are – a truly fab day for all. Wishing you lots more future happiness. xx The 11th September took me back to Egerton House in Bolton – a venue close to my heart as this was my wedding reception venue back in 2007! This was for the wedding of Emma & Anthony – the new Mr & Mrs Valentine. Emma looked stunning in her crystal encrusted gown with her red roses bouquet providing the perfect contrast to her dress and her bridesmaids dresses in black. The wedding service in the barn was beautiful with the soft lighting providing the perfect ambient setting. The day continued with lots of fun and laughter and little Marcus running about all day keeping the adults on their toes! The evening celebrations involved a brilliant band playing some great tracks which certainly got the party started! You make a lovely couple, many congratulations xx. Kate & Jonathan got married on the 30th August 2010 at Totley Rise Methodist Church in Sheffield before heading off to the gorgeous Hassop Hall in Derbyshire, where guests and family enjoyed drinks on the lawn with the string quartet as a beautiful accompaniment. The bridesmaids wore sumptuous purple which carried the colour theme throughout the day and provided the ballroom with vibrant purple balloons a
nd favours. This was a really lovely wedding – everybody enjoyed themselves and it was clear that the newly-weds were having a fabulous day. Many best wishes to both of you. xx Jacqueline & David’s big day was on the 29th August 2010, with their wedding reception being held at Aston Hall. Yet another favourite wedding venue of mine, and I specially love the marquee where they had their wedding breakfast. I was really really excited to be let in on the secret that there were singing waiters during the meal otherwise know as Divas Disguised. I was poised towards the end of the meal ready for the ‘pretend’ waiting staff to break into song – they did not disappoint and definitely surprised all the guests especially the best man when he received his personal rendition of Happy Birthday and a birthday cake. Absolutely fabulous!!! Lucy & Judd got married on Friday the 27th August 2010 at the lovely St John the Baptist church in Dronfield. The wedding reception was at Ringwood Hall in Chesterfield, one of my favourite wedding venues, with its gorgeous grounds and loads of great spots for photographs. We had great weather all day so were able to take full advantage of all the outdoor spaces. The ballroom looked absolutely amazing with the soft green colour scheme running throughout. A fabulous day was had by all with everybody looking absolutely stunning!! Purple was the gorgeous colour theme at the wedding of Carrie Ann and Richard. They got married at the absolutely stunning All Saints Church in Owston. After the truly memorable service and some photographs outside the couple headed towards the car where they were greeted with LOTS of confetti – great stuff. The vintage style limo with its purple adorning ribbons was the prefect transport to their reception venue at the New Wheatsheaf in Castleford. We managed to dodge a slight rain shower but took the opportunity to get a few shots using my trusty white umbrellas. Later on guests enjoyed the fun and laughter of the speeches before the evening ahead with lots of dancing – I’m sure the party was just getting when I left!! Many congrats! xx I was very excited to photograph the wedding of Jenny and Chris on the 21st August 2010, as these are a lovely bubbly couple and I knew we would have lots of fun on the day. Without any disappointment this was a fabulous wedding to photograph with everybody looking perfect on the day and all the little extras adding to make this a great day, like the groom arriving in his surprise Aston Martin for the day! After the very emotional but lovely service at Tankersley Manor and after much research we headed to the gorgeous Elsecar Park for some lovely shots by the band stand before heading back to the celebrations at Tankersley Manor. A great wedding day for all, you both looked so happy – lots and lots of future happiness to you both xx Marina & David’s big day was on the 14th August 2010. These are a lovely couple and I was really looking forward to photographing their wedding day. As I arrived at Ringwood Hall where the bride was getting ready it was pouring down with rain & we did not think we would get out at all but as you can see from the pics the sun came out at just the right time – phew! Marina looked absolutely gorgeous in her wedding gown bought in Brighton and her three bridesmaids looked fab too in their vibrant red gowns matching beautifully with Marina’s rose bouquet. There were lots of things that I loved about this wedding and definitely the best wedding cake I have seen to date made entirely of cheese – fabulous!! Lots of love and future happiness to Mr & Mrs Frow xx Not for the weak at heart Ged and Susan set there wedding date for Friday the 13th 2010 much to the amusement of friends and family whom I am sure were expecting them to walk under some ladders or cross on the stairs on the big day!! However everything went perfectly with all their quirky elements adding beautifully to the day – like the bride and groom getting ready together, arriving together and therefore naturally walking down the aisle together, lovely stuff, with all the many assembled flowers girls looking as cute as can be in their baby pink dresses. After the service and the happy couple’s combined speech friends and family enjoyed a drink in the Rutland hotel’s bar before a lovely meal – thanks for that again The evening then kicked off with some magic for the kids and humour for the adults. All in all a great day, many congratulations. Sarah & Tom got married on a beautifully sunny Saturday afternoon, the 7th August 2010. This was my first visit to St Nicholas’s church in Bradfield & I wasn’t disappointed, this is a gorgeous church with fantastic views looking over Low Bradfield. After the ceremony the happy couple found time for a sneaky drink en-route at the superbly located Old Horse Inn Then onto the lovely village Hall at Low Bradfield where the atmosphere was totally relaxed. The kids absolutely loved running about on the lawn & playing games while the adults enjoyed soaking up the rays with a glass or two and some tasty treats off the barbecue. Another fab wedding – Sarah & Tom you looked so so happy on the day so I’m sure you have a fantastic future together with your lovely girls, Emily and Freya xx Saturday the 31st July 2010 took me back to Hathersage and St Michael The Archangel Church for the wedding of Alex & Steven. After a lovely service the wedding party headed for the Plough Inn and the marquee awaiting it’s guests. This looked fabulous with bunting all around and colourful scarfs in the colour scheme of pinks and purples adorning the chairs for the ladies to keep. There was just about everything at this wedding, a toast master, a bouncy castle, a sweetie stand, an electronic guest book, best man bingo and to top it all off the finale was an Irish Ceilidh band to which the bride, groom and guests danced the night away… The lovely Stacey & Neil got married on the 30th July 2010 at the stunning Hassop Hall near Bakewell in Derbyshire. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous so we had plenty of great photographic opportunities and we were definitely lucky with the weather with only the odd spell of rain – this certainly didn’t dampen anybody’s spirits on the big day. Everybody was smiling all day which goes to prove what a great time everybody had. I was made me feel so welcome at this wedding and I thoroughly en
joyed photographing it. I wish you lots of future happiness together. Lisa & Jason’s big day was the 17th July 2010. The wedding took place at the lovely venue of The Rutland Hotel in Broomhill, Sheffield. Everybody had a great day especially the kids and all those games on the lawns! Congratulations to you both!! Sara & Ali celebrated their marriage on the 14th July 2010. As I arrived at Sara’s house it was thunder and lightning and absolutely tippling down with rain! Sara was looking absolutely gorgeous so taking beautiful portraits of her inside wasn’t a problem at all! We set off for Kenwood Hall and who would have thought the sun came out so we were able to take advantage of the lovely gardens for some relaxed portraits of the happy pair. Then onto the Kenwood Suite where they were welcomed in by their waiting friends and family applauding and throwing confetti. The room looked amazing adorned with beautiful flowers and a twinkling backdrop on the stage. The evening involved lots of dancing, smiling and laughter, with the belly dancer adding to all the fun!! There was a brilliant atmosphere – I absolutely loved it! Sara & Ali you make a beautiful couple, all the best for the future. Nicola & Craig’s big day was on the gloriously sunny 10th July 2010. Nicola looked stunning in her customized Blushes wedding dress, with gems dazzling all down the back of the dress. The wedding ceremony was at Sheffield Town Hall, after the service we headed out into the sun, where the happy couple were drowned with lots of confetti! We then took some group photographs in the Peace Gardens. Then onto Bramhall Lane the home of Sheffield United and another love of the couple’s. The room looked amazing with balloons, centre pieces and lots of little added extras making everything extra special. We had fun taking some pics pitch-side and Craig got to practice his management skills by the dugout! My time at the wedding ended with the lovely first dance and an amazing balloon explosion on the dance floor – great stuff! Jennifer & Ben got married on the 9th July 2010. The wedding ceremony took place at Ranmore St John’s Church in Sheffield. A magnificent building with a steep spiral staircase which I risked life and limb to get a good photograph from during the service- it was definitely worth it! The wedding reception was at Whirlowbrook Hall where the gardens were in full bloom and looked glorious for the photographs. I loved the whole feel of this wedding and the gorgeous yellow colour theme running throughout. The bridesmaids dresses were my favourites of the year so far, stunning. Another lovely wedding with a another very lovely couple, many congratulations. Tom & Victoria celebrated their wedding day on the 3rd July 2010. This was a lovely wedding that I really enjoyed photographing. Tom had supplied me with a long photographic list – I hope I’ve captured all the lovely little details you requested! The wedding was at St Michael the Archangel Church in the beautiful village of Hathersage – which was also celebrating a village fete that day – nice of them to put the bunting out for Tom & Toria Transport for the day was quirky from the off with Victoria walking to the church from her house nearby. Following the service the guests travelled in style on a vintage bus – while me and the bride and groom headed off to Surprise View which over-looks Hathersage to get some more photographs. Congrats to you both, you make a lovely couple. I photographed the beautiful wedding of Leanne at Graham at the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield on the 6th March 2010. This is quickly becoming a favourite venue for me. I love the way in which all the gorgeous foliage in the pavilion frames the couple with the guests mingled amongst it creating a lovely laid-back atmosphere. Everybody looked stunning and the cold was not going to stop us from venturing down the pathway for some lovely photographs! Here is a storyboard of some of the lovely moments throughout the day.
