Nicola & Mike got married on the 16th June 2018 – I knew this day was destined to be amazing from the off (It’s also my wedding anniversary! 11 years!).
The whole wedding party was getting ready at Darwin Lake – I’d not been here before, but what a beautiful hidden gem this is. The girls were in one cottage and the boys in another, so I was able to flit between the two. There was a hive of activity in both and lots of laughter and excitement in anticipation for the day ahead.
The wedding itself took place at Dore Church. It was such a lovely ceremony filled with equal measures of tears and laughter, I loved all the giggling!
After the service we headed outside for some group shots and confetti throwing – I think it’s the first time I’ve ever seen a groom inhale most of it!!
Then back to Darwin Lake for the PARTY!! loved the boat filled with booze! Nicola had said she’s quite clumsy so there was never chance she was going in it, much safer to fill it with alcohol!
The day continued in the lovely relaxed vain it had started in. The speeches provided some enlightening tales and definitely entertained the guests.
Then there was Tequila and lots of it!! The partying I’m sure carried on long into the night well after I’d gone. I wish this lovely pair so much happiness xx
People often ask me what it is I love so much about photographing weddings, and one of my usual responses is; that every wedding is so very different, the people, the style, the setting and this is what keeps inspiring and reminding me why I’m so fortunate to do what I do. So when I met with Roxie & Shaun initially, and heard some of their ideas, I was very excited at the prospect of photographing their big day. I love anything a little different and this one was truly unique.
The big day was the 9th June 2018 and the locations were The Norfolk Arms, in the stunning setting of Ringinglow, Sheffield, and also The Lantern Theatre in Nether Edge. As you’re about to see from the images the starting point for Roxie and her inspiration came from the colours in her engagement ring – Rose-gold and blue. It also goes without saying that Roxie (and I’m sure Shaun!) are huge Disney fans. Roxie had meticulously planned everything and I have to say those table decorations were the best and most creative I’ve seen. Those many hours spent scouring the internet/car boot sales/shops or wherever else you procured all those gorgeous items from, really paid off!
Another gem about this wedding was the wedding ceremony venue, as mentioned this was held at The Lantern Theatre. I can’t think of any other so perfectly intimate surrounding for these two to have exchanged their vows and swapped pin badges – adorable!!
There are lots more lovely things to mention like the handbags for all the bridesmaids (Disney themed – obvs!!) which they had no idea about and explained why they would not be carrying flowers on this day. I totally love the swap of shoes into Converse later on in the day and the addition of Disney ears – why not?! O and the balloons, I could go on!!
I have nothing but love and affection for this day and it only seems fitting to round this up with a Disney quote…
“And at last I see the light
And it’s like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it’s like the sky is new
And it’s warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different
Now that I see you”
