Lucy + Mathew

The 3rd September was the wedding day for Lucy + Mathew. A few words that spring to mind when I think back to this lovely wedding are… countryside, tweed, feathers, AMAZING flowers, horses and a lot of rain!! The day started with me joining Lucy in her beautiful home with her Mum and bridesmaids. It was absolutely chucking it down, I distinctly remember people talking a lot about the weather and the fact that Lucy was going to be traveling by horse and cart – as you will see from the pictures the weather did not spoil the day one bit and in fact provided us with the most glorious post wedding breakfast lighting I’ve possibly ever seen! The ceremony took place in the local church – St Peter’s in Thorpe Salvin. I met up with Mathew, resplendent in his tweed suit nervously anticipating the arrival of Lucy. She did arrive as planned by horse and cart – with the most beautiful horses carrying her. It was raining but who cares it was covered and there were plenty of brollies!! The service was emotional and heart-felt in one of the tiniest and most intimate churches Ive been in. After the service it was still raining so we all headed to the reception venue of  The Hewett Arms in Shireoaks, Nottinghamshire. At this point I need to mention the flowers by Janice of My Floral Romance – she had spent days creating such dramatic and beautiful displays – the staircase was stunning. Lucy & Mathew arrived and Mathews younger brother helped release some doves -  it was a really touching and personal moment. As mentioned, after the meal the weather was a lot kinder to us as we were greeted by dramatic skies and were able to get the whole wedding party out. This wedding had lots of different notes & and I found it really inspiring x

Gemma + Gary

First thing to mention about this wedding is that Gemma & Gary are possibly two of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. From the first moment I met them right up until the day, their warmth and friendliness was immeasurable! Gemma also wins the award for most excited bride-to-be I’ve met ;) The wedding took place on the 20th August 2016. I joined Gemma at her Mum’s house where she was getting ready with her bridesmaids and her beloved nephew Fin :) There was a lot of activity and excitement in the house especially when the gorgeous wedding flowers arrived – always lovely to catch up (briefly) with Tracey from Campbells Flowers. After my stint at the house I jumped in the car to beat everyone to St Marie’s Cathedral in Sheffield. The blokes seemed pretty organised when I got there dutifully handing out order of services and ushering guests in. When Gemma arrived and all the guests were seated an emotional yet happy service ensued. Afterwards we headed to the reception venue – Halifax Hall – and it was absolutely chucking it down by this point! Everybody made a dash inside and enjoyed welcome drinks and canapes. Fortunately Halifax Hall has a lovely covered area outside where we were able to do a lot of the group shots. After the meal, the rain having stopped, we headed back outside and braved the soggy grass for some shots of the newly-weds. I felt so welcome on this wedding day and really enjoyed documenting this lovely couple and their equally lovely family and friends :) x
